Jan 21st

IMP 100: We have a quiz today on functions and they were given an assignment last night HW 29. Next week is the last week of the semester and we will be compiling our portfolios and tying things up.

IMP 200: They have been working on their final statistics projects that will be due next week. A few students have chosen to take a final exam instead.

Geometry: Last week we finished chapter 3 and had a test. Many of the class did not show mastery of this chapter so we will be reviewing this chapter again today and students will have test corrections as a homework assignment.

Statistics: Yesterday we tried finishing projects started in chapter 3 and as small groups. Each student was given a list of missing assignments.

Advising: We volunteered at the Rescue Mission last week. This week we are going to be signing up for classes and going over credits.

Jan 14th

Sorry for the delay in posts, it has been busy around here.

Here is the most recent HW for IMP 100
HW 20, Where is speedy, HW 23, HW 25, graph of f(X)= (1/6)t^2 +20, HW 28 and To the Rescue

Many, many students in this class are behind in HW and would benefit from more time being spent on HW at home.

IMP 200
Recent HW: HW 8, 9, Bacteria, HW 10, Measuring weirdness, How does chi squared work, Hw 12, Hw 13, Review of Statistics, Functions and graphs, Does age matter

Currently, this class will be working on a large group assignment that will serve as their final in this class.

Geometry 200
Recent HW: 3.5, 3.6, 3.7, and 3.8 today we will have test on all of chapter 3.

Statistics 300
Recent HW: Linear regression, the regression effect, Sustainable logging, (multiplication, combinations and permutations), and matching statistics to plots

In this class many students have group work out, this will have an impact on their final grade.

Advising
We are going to the homeless shelter tomorrow. We are also preparing for writing work-samples that will happen later this month.
Also at the end of this month we will be having a school wide project fair.
Starting semester 2 students will be taking over Thursday's and Friday's classes. From my advising they've generated 4 or 5 good ideas that they would be willing to run for at least one month.

Nov 16th

IMP 100
We have been working on linear equations and distribution. Tonight expect an assignment related to distribution and tomorrow's will be solving equations.

IMP 200
They've been taking notes one normal distribution and bell curves. Tonight's assignment is to create the bell curve for our bedtimes, finding sigma is sometimes difficult.

Geometry
We are well into chapter 3 and should have a work day in the lab on Tuesday and maybe a quiz on Thursday. The current topic is constructions and we had assignments in chapters 3.1, 3.3, 3.4 and 3.5

Statistics
We are working with variance currently. There will be an assignment tonight related to the topic.
Last week I gave a lot of book work and practice.

Advising
This week is conferences and we will be testing in advising period for a while.

NOV 5th

IMP 100
There will be quiz on Monday on graphing linear equations. HW tonight was practice, there were 5 questions all on linear equations.

IMP 200
HW 2, 4, 6 have now been assigned

Geometry
We took our chapter 2 test on Tuesday and will begin 3.1 and 3.2 today. I have a worksheet 3.1+3.2 for their assignment tonight. If they prefer I can give them a book assignment instead.

Statistics
Thursday there was 5 graphs due, related to the rolling of dice and x bar. Last night I gave a book assignment and a worksheet for homework and we did a reading on why we divide by n-1 when working with x-bar. The worksheet was titled: standard deviation and CVars.

Advising
On Monday and Tuesday we watched "Dark Days" a documentary about the homeless in MYC who live under the subway. Most students are still working on their small group projects.

Nov 2nd

IMP 100 We are starting graphing. Tonight's HW will be practice with graphing. The last assignment was HW 15.

IMP 200 Is beginning a unit on probability. Today we did an in class project concerning mixed nuts. Some groups have yet to present. Our homework tomorrow will be HW 2.

Geometry: We just finished Chapter 2 and will have a test this week. There were 2 worksheets for chapters 2.1 + 2,2 and 2.3 + 2.4 we did 2.5 1-9 odd and 2.6 1-11 odd in the book.

Statistics: We finished out tests and did an in class assignment on Variation. Last class we begin studying normal distribution with dice data. We will finish working with this data today.

Advising: We went gleaning last Friday and it was absolutely great. All of the food we gathered was donated to Salvation Army. We had about 12 full boxes of fresh produce. This week we will be watching dark days on Monday and Tuesday. Thursday will be our free work day instead. Friday there will be no school. Friday is also the last day before midterm progress reports.

Week 6 10/26

IMP 100
We've been covering distribution and took a quiz last Thursday. Many students did not finish this quiz and will finish today. I have assigned up to HW 15 at this point.

IMP 200
We are preparing for a quiz on the quadratic formula and the vertex form. There have been two assignments on the vertex form and a review handed out today to some students who were done.

Advising
We are going gleaning this Friday and have been working on our hunger/homeless information. Some students are working on posters others on papers. And still others are planning a hunger banquet with our buddies class for around thanksgiving.

Geometry
We finished chapter 1 and had a test. There was a worksheet handed out last class on inductive and deductive reasoning. Tomorrow's HW will be in chapter 2.3, finding the nth term, which will be very much like algebra, some kids will struggle because of that.

Statistics
We had a test on chapter 2 last week about half the class choose the take home option. Today we will be in chapter 3 focusing on variance and standard deviation.

Week 5 10/12

IMP 100
We last did a quick intro to graphing and have been focused on solving and setting up equations. They've had HW 9 and 11 last assigned. Today we will be doing HW 12. On Wednesday there will be a HW makeup day.

IMP 200
Today we have a quiz on Factoring, Distribution and Graphing. Thursday there was a review assignment and before that there was a worksheet called quadratic graphing.

Geometry
We are midway through chapter 1 and it's a long chapter. At the end of each unit I assign a few or a lot of questions. Here are the most resent: p 42 1-25 p51 1-31 odd p 56 1-4, 12-26 even

Statistics
We'll finish chapter 2 today hopefully, it's focus was on various types of graphs. The last 2 assignments were p69 39 and 44, and "getting to know the class." I'm debating whether or not to have a quiz on graphing, currently I think having a few good examples in their portfolio would do. So then maybe expect an e-pearl assignment to get those guys up there.

Advising
We were suppose to get our e-pearl accounts up last week but I was sick and that slipped by the wayside. This week I hope to begin one on one conferences with students. They've filled out a reflection on their progress and state of being that we'll use to start us off.
